We now have a new teacher in the old village teaching 1st grade. 1st through 5th grade now have 49 children who grew up speaking Phnnong and are now learning Khmer, the Cambodian national language.
We have decided to build 2 new school rooms onto the existing school in the old village. Each room will be used for 2 grades.
The adult english classes now have 10 student who come to class 5 days a week.
In the new village we have 20 children who come daily to study english in addition to full time studies at the government school.
One family moved to a different town and thier children were head and shoulders above thier contemporaries at the government run school This is a testiment to the the quality and commitment of our teachers Heng, Tina and Vien.
We need lighting at the old village (there is none now) and want to use solar power. This will allow both adults and children to study at night while providing a community center for the village. See the donations page for your oppornuty to help
Spring 2009
Two buildings are now open for classes for grades 1 - 4 with 2 teachers. The villagers desire more english language classes, especially for adults. The head of the schools is Heng and he teaches basic english conversation. Tina teaches first and third grade and Vena teaches grades two and four.
Tina, Vena and Heng are all from the old village of Chenneng. Tina and Vean are married with one child and still live in the old village. Heng lives at the school and acts as head master.
